The Snyder freshmen cagers were swept by Lamesa Friday, with the boys dropping a hotly-contested overtime tilt and the girls losing by double digits.

The boys fell, 57-56, after mounting a 17-point assault in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 45-45.

Ryan Mitchell had a game-high 20 points for the frosh, while Tyler Driggers and Tagaba Kyei contributed 12 and 10, respectively.

“I’m very proud of them. It was one of our best games -- we hustled on defense and showed more composure,” said coach Joe Anaya. “It was a good game.”

The frosh girls gave a great effort in a 46-32 loss that was closer than the final score, according to coach Todd Pollard.

“It was pretty close throughout,” he said. “I thought we played hard, but we gave them too many second chances early.”

Candace Chandler led the squad with 15 points, while Brianna Bernal knocked in 11.

Amber Acosta drained four and Desiree Cortez added two.
