The Seminole Indians jumped on the Snyder Tigers early Tuesday night, reeling off a 9-0 run in a 15-4 first quarter in claiming a 65-47 victory and keep their playoff hopes alive.

The loss was the seventh straight for the Tigers and effectively knocked Snyder from th e postseason picture.

Despite a solid shooting night from Lee Scott -- who finished with 18 -- and 13 points from Isaac Ramon, the Tigers (8-19, 0-6) were outmatched against a Seminole team that got double-digit scoring from three players.

“Its frustrating because we wouldn’t be patient and run the offense,” head coach Bud Birks said, while giving credit to a solid Seminole team. “They are good off the dribble and excellent shooters.”

The Tigers trailed 27-18, at halftime thanks to a buzzer-beating three from Ramon, before Seminole (12-12, 3-3) hit for 23 in the third quarter to extend the lead to 22 points at the end of the third.

Ty Caffey led all players with 19, while Indians Pedie Guerra and Micah Clay had 12 and 16 points, respectively.

The Tigers were effective from the charity stripe, nailing 21 of 23 attempts.

Lico Castillo had seven points, Zach Garcia and Garrett Pinson contributed four each and Austin Hatfield was held to just one free throw for the Tigers.

With four games left and chances for the postseason dimming, Birks said the team has a chance to end this season on a positive note, with three of the last four games before the home fans at Tiger Gym.

“This shows the character. They can check it in or compete,” he said. “And I have no doubt these kids will compete. They play hard and get after it.”
