The Lady Tigers continued their impressive and surprising run Tuesday, and this time they had to come from behind to do it.

Struggling offensively from the beginning, Snyder (25-2, 8-0) got clutch defense and timely baskets in the waning moments to pull off a 37-32 win and clinch the District 3-3A title outright with their 23rd straight victory.

Head coach Mike Martin said the key for the girls would be to concentrate on the positives they brought away from the game.

“We didn’t play our best, but we did some positive things and that’s what we tried to focus on with the understanding that you are going to have games like this,” he said. “We struggled mightily on offense, but we played fantastic defense that kept us in the game.”

Seminole (7-18, 2-6) gave Snyder all it could handle from the opening tip-off.

The teams played to a 7-7 tie at the end of the first quarter, before the Maidens took a one-point lead into the locker room at the half.

They kept that lead up until the opening of the fourth quarter.

Trailing 24-23, Snyder pulled ahead for good on a lay-up from Sequoya Powell, followed by a transition bucket from Terann Ragland.

After a Sara Jo Chiles basket pulled Seminole back to within one, Sirena Medrano hit a two before she and Ragland traded steals and coast-to-coast lay-ups to make it a seven-point game with under a minute left.

Seminole battled back to make it a four-point deficit before Ragland drained a pair of free throws with 20 seconds left to seal the win. She led the team with eight points, and pulled down two boards.

Medrano and Sarah Henson each delivered seven points and collected three rebounds apiece.

Powell had six points and five boards, and Jordan Stansell grabbed seven rebounds and scored four points for the Lady Tigers.

With a berth in the regional playoffs secure and a winning streak taking on a life of its own, a caravan of fans made the trek to Seminole, giving Snyder a larger crowd than the host.

Martin said the key for the club would be to keep the focus on the next opponent.

“I told them to think about the winning and not about the streak,” he said.

The Snyder JV also won, topping Seminole, 39-35.
