The Ira Bulldogs moved a step closer to clinching a playoff berth in District 7 Tuesday, exploding in the second half to crush Klondike, 72-45.
The Bulldogs (11-8, 6-2) trailed 27-25 at halftime before scoring 47 points in the second half to runaway with the victory.
Jake Barnes was unstoppable inside, scoring 34 points to lead all players.
Wes Kellner added 14 and Brian Proctor hit for 12, as the Bulldogs kept pace with district-leading Grady, which beat Sands by 20 Tuesday to stay perfect in district.
Borden County topped Dawson to stay a game back of Ira at 5-3 in district play.
The Bulldogs will take on Sands at home at 8 Friday night.
Lady Bulldogs 47, Klondike 39
The Lady Bulldogs won their second straight game Tuesday, scoring 17 fourth-quarter points to pull away from Klondike, 47-39.
The Lady Bulldogs (10-12, 4-4), who have won four of their last six, got 18 points -- including five three-pointers -- from Amanda Calley and 16 from Lindsey Wilson.
“Amanda did a good job,” head coach Brent Parr said. “I’m really proud of the girls. Hopefully we can make three (straight), then play spoiler against Borden County.”
Kelbi Pitner added seven and Whitney Payne canned six for Ira, which hosts Sands at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
