Snyder city council will hold a closed session tonight to discuss purchasing property for a city-owned animal shelter.
This action will follow a report by the council’s animal shelter committee on the feasibility of the city operating its own shelter.
Presently, the city contracts with the West Texas Animal Clinic for shelter services.
In other business this evening, the council will discuss the 2004-2005 budget calendar, and order the general election for May 15.
Every district seat will be up for election. Presently, Vernest Tippens represents District 1 with Stephanie Ducheneaux representing District 2. District 4 representative is Ron Shaw. James Ashley, current District 3 representative, has submitted his letter of resignation from the council as he is moving from the community.
The council will consider his letter of resignation as part of the agenda.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:30 at city hall.
