The Ira Bulldogs kept pace in District 7 and kept their playoff hopes kindled with a 71-52 win over Dawson.

The Bulldogs (10-8, 5-2) led 23-9 at the end of the first quarter, stretching the lead to 35-21 at halftime.

Jake Barnes and Wes Kellner had a game-high 21 points, and Brian Proctor returned from a twisted ankle to cash in for 12.

Jess Wall added 10 for the Bulldogs, which host Klondike Tuesday at 8 p.m.

Ira 55, Dawson 47

Amanda Calley hit a pair of free throws at the end of regulation, and nailed a three in overtime, as the Lady Bulldogs (9-12, 3-4)used that momentum to claim a 55-47 overtime win over Dawson.

“It was a fun game,” head coach Brent Parr said. “It’s important for trying to build something for next year. The girls played well and we executed and worked our way back and didn’t get flustered. Anytime you get kids the opportunity to go into overtime, it picks them up.”

Ira led 28-23 at halftime, before Dawson charged back to take a 36-34 lead after a 13 –point third period.

Lindsey Wilson knocked in a team-high 17, and Calley finished with 13.

Kelbi Pitner contributed 10, Whitney Payne had six, Shae Allen and Brittney Dickerhoff had four apiece and Kate Wall added two.

The Lady Bulldogs host Klondike at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
