Kenneth Lynch
1936-2004
Kenneth Ray Lynch, a former Snyder resident, died Monday,
April 26, in Carl Hayden VA Hospital in Phoenix after a brief illness.
Service for Mr. Lynch, 68, is set for 2 p.m. Saturday in
the Bell-Cypert Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Michael Howard of Oklahoma, formerly of
Snyder, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Snyder Cemetery.
Born Feb. 11, 1936 in Snyder, Mr. Lynch was a lead
guitarist in a number of bands.
His parents, John and Ethel Lynch; and two sisters, Ruth
Land and Dorothy Lynch, preceded him in death.
Survivors include three sons, Tracy Alan Lynch of San
Angelo, Christopher Lynch of Fort Worth and John Val Lynch of Globe, Ariz.; four
daughters, Beverly Diggs of Snyder, Peggy Radelle Bird of Pleasant Grove, Patty Lunelle
Southard of Flower Mound and Natalie Jo Sabastian of Globe, Ariz.; two sisters, Johnnie
Murl Molinare of Snyder and Mary Helen Cunningham of Pecos; 23 grandchildren; and 11
great-grandchildren.
Family visitation is set for 6-7 this evening at the
funeral home.
Mae Cline
1908-2004
Mae Elizabeth Mama Mae Cline of Snyder died
Wed-nesday, April 28, in Cogdell Memorial Hospital.
Service for Mrs. Cline, 95, is set for 10 a.m. Saturday
in the First Baptist Church in Plainview with Dr. Travis Hart officiating. Burial will
follow in the Oddfellow Section of the Plainview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the
direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Born May 3, 1908 in Crawford County, Mo., she was reared
near the Meramec River in Crawford County where she attended school. In 1925, she went to
work for the telephone company in Chandler, Okla., where she met Charles Beckham Cline.
They married Feb. 3, 1928, in Shawnee and moved to Plainview in 1932. Mr. Cline died March
29, 1982.
Mrs. Cline retired from the telephone company after 30
years service and was active in the church and the Senior Citizens Center. She was
well-known at the Nu-Griddle Restaurant in Plainview where she had breakfast and visited
with friends almost every day. Mrs. Cline was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and
the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Mrs. Cline moved to Snyder in 1998.
Also preceding her in death are her parents, Samuel
Jeremiah and Edna Bell Key Scantlan; an infant daughter, Beth Elaine Cline; and a son,
C.B. Cline Jr. in 1997; three sisters, including her twin; and three brothers.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, John
Edward and Linda Cline of Snyder and Paul Samuel and Connie Cline of Brownwood; 13
grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 this evening at
Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Lois Burney
1923-2004
Lois Irene Duerksen Burney, longtime Snyder resident,
died Wednesday, April 28, in the Methodist Hospital Central in Oak Cliff after a lengthy
illness.
Service for Mrs. Burney, 80, is set for 10 a.m. Saturday
in the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Fay Downs, interim pastor, officiating. Burial
will follow in Hillside Memorial
Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral
Home.
Born Aug. 13, 1923 in Corn, Okla., she taught school in
Corpus Christi before her marriage to Albert Sidney Burney who died June 18, 1987.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters.
Mrs. Burney, a homemaker, was an avid artist, having
paintings in the Scurry County Museum. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian
Church and the Snyder Palette Club.
Survivors include two sons, Ric Burney of Dallas and Jay
Burney of Coppell; three grandchildren, Taylor Burney, Blair Burney and Andrea Burney, all
of Coppell; and a brother-in-law, Marvin Westburg of Littleton, Colo.
Mrs. Payne
1929-2004
Geraldine Grace Payne, the sister of Bernice Crow of
Snyder, died Wednesday, April 28, in Brownfield Regional Hospital.
Funeral service for Mrs. Payne 74, is set for 2 p.m.
Saturday in the First Baptist Church in Seagraves with the Rev. Ronnie Hedges officiating.
Burial will follow in the Gaines County Cemetery under the direction of Ratliff Funeral
Home.
Born Nov. 24, 1929 in Terry County, she married C.F.
Payne on Sept. 9, 1950 in Seagraves. A homemaker, she was a member of the Friendship
Baptist Church in Brownfield.
Survivors include her husband, C.F. Payne of Seagraves;
five daughters, Laquita Hornung of Eastland, Pam Hulsey of Denton, Teresa Reece of
Lubbock, Vicki Smith of Brownfield and Brenda Taylor of Seagraves; a son, Clinton Payne of
Brownfield; a brother, J.W. Freeman of Denver City; 11 grandchildren; and several
great-grandchildren.
