The Snyder High School track and field athletes will try to book a trip to the state meet when the opening gun fires at the regional track meet Friday morning at Ratliff Stadium in Odessa.

Snyder will be represented in 16 events on the first day of the meet, beginning at 10 a.m. with October Wells in the girls long jump and Justin Boyd in the boys high jump.

At noon, Ricky McNatt will throw the discus and Malcome Wells will compete in the long jump.

The girls 4x100m relay team of Wells, Terann Ragland, Sequoya Powell and Nicki Traylor will kick off the running prelims at 2:30 p.m., followed immediately by the boys 4x100m relay team of Wells, Boyd, Zach Cain and Jesus Juarez.

Following the boys sprint relay, Candace Chandler will compete in the 800m run at 2:50 p.m.

At 3:25 p.m., Garrett Pinson will race in the 110m hurdles and Wells will run in the girls 100m dash 10 minutes later.

Wells, Boyd, Cain and Juarez will compete in the 4x200 relay at 4:05 p.m., and Boyd will run in the 400 dash at 4:25 p.m.

Cain will represent Snyder in the 300m hurdles at 4:50 p.m., followed by Wells in the girls 200m dash at 5 p.m.

Malcome Wells will compete in the boys 200m dash at 5:10 p.m.

The girls mile relay team of Erin Burleson, Jordan Stansell, Chandler and Ragland will close out the running prelims for Snyder at 5:20 p.m.

Wells will be the only Snyder thinclad in Saturday’s field events, getting the final day underway at 9 a.m. with the girls triple jump.

The running finals will begin at 1:15 p.m. Saturday.

Gates open at Ratliff at 9 a.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday.
