The state-mandated TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge & Skills) tests will be given Tuesday through Saturday in the Snyder, Hermleigh and Ira schools.

In Snyder, the math portion of the test will be given to grades 3-9 on Tuesday as will the exit test. The social studies test for 10th graders also will be administered Tuesday.

Also on Tuesday, the TAAS writing re-test will be given to seniors.

On Wednesday, the TAKS re-test will be administered to third graders, while fourth through eighth graders will take the TAKS reading test.

This is the first re-testing for TAKS third grade reading.

Third graders have three opportunities to pass the TAKS reading test.

Those who didn’t pass on the first try were put in an accelerated instruction program to bring them to a proficient level.

If third graders fail to pass on the third try set for June 29, they can be retained in the third grade.

The math test will be given to 10th graders, as will the TAKS science exit test.

Twelfth graders who have not passed the TAAS math test can re-test on Wednesday.

On Thursday, the TAKS math test will be given to ninth graders while the eighth graders will t ake the social studies test as well as the exit test.

The TAKS science test will be given to fifth graders and 10th graders on Thursday, and the re-testing of 11th and 12th graders also will be Thursday for the TAAS reading test.

The TAAS exit level tests will be given to any seniors that have not passed a section of the TAAS for graduation requirements.

Students must be present next week and on time for their testing.

“Snyder ISD students have consistently scored above the state average on state-mandated tests, and the district anticipates that students will perform well in this testing session,” said Snyder ISD superintendent, Dr. Ronny Collins.
