The Snyder boys track team placed nine thinclads on the all-district team, with seven making the first team.

Josh Muniz, Garrett Pinson, Malcome Wells, Zach Cain, Justin Boyd, Jesus Juarez and Ricky McNatt all earned first-team honors in District 3-3A, while Eder Borrgeo and Demetrius Brandon were listed as second team.

The team ran at Roscoe Thursday in a qualifiers meet , which works as a practice meet for those headed to regionals.

Snyder competed against 91 teams from all over the state -- including Early, Alpine and Grape Creek -- and set new personal records in four events.

“I’m really pleased,” head track and field coach Roger White said. “We’re coming along and building to a peak at the right time.”

Boyd set a personal record in the high jump, clearing 6-6 for the first time this year. White said Boyd had three good attempts at 6-8 after breaking the 6-6 barrier.

McNatt placed first in the discus throw with a new personal record distance of 163-05, and Muniz set a new mark in the mile with a time of 4:43.13.

Pinson finished second in the 110m hurdles, setting a new personal standard with a time of 14.85, and the 4x100 relay squad of Boyd, Cain, Wells and Juarez crossed the line at 42.53 to place second and set a new personal record.

Cain and Boyd joined Dwight Wells and Borrego on the mile relay and placed third with a 3:29.40.

The 4x200 team lost a big lead when they dropped the baton down the stretch, but still finished in 1:32.

“We stretched our handoffs and this gives us a good idea what we can do,” White said.

The Region I track and field meet will get underway Friday at Ratliff Stadium with the running preliminaries.

The finals are set for Saturday.
