The Snyder girls golf team booked their second straight trip to state in Class 3A Tuesday, shooting a 328 in the final round of the Region I golf tournament at Ratliff Ranch to place second.
It is 11th consecutive trip to state for the Snyder girls golf program.
Cami Trout fired a 72 -- the second-best card of the round -- to lead the Lady Tigers, who held off Pecos, which also shot a final-round 328.
The Lady Tigers held the eight-shot le ad over Pecos heading into the final round, and got consistent play from the rest of the team, with no Lady Tiger exceeding 88 in the tournament.
Monahans ran away from the field in the final round, following up its first-day score of 319 with a 316 to best Snyder by 14 strokes.
Trout was third medalist at the tournament, carding a 152.
Three shots separated Shannon Mangis, Brooke Jackson and Ashley Luecke, with Mangis posting a 166, Jackson recording a 167 and Luecke finishing the tournament with a 169.
Christi Williams was just two back with a 171, after taking five strokes off her first-round total.
“This is the result of months of hard work and dedication. I am so proud of these girls,” head golf coach Ricky Hunter said. “They have done everything they have been asked to do. They definitely have earned the trip to Austin.”
The 3A state golf tournament will be held May 13-14 at Jimmy Clay golf course in Austin.
