Buckshot Burns

1939-2004

Larry “Buckshot” Burns, former Snyder resident, died Monday, April 19, in Medical Center Hospital.

Service is set for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home with the Rev. John Lyons officiating. Interment will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Hillside Memorial Gardens in Snyder.

Born on Nov. 12, 1939 in Ackerly to Buck and Ima Burns, he moved from Snyder to Odessa in 1984. He worked in the oilfield as a toolpusher, retiring in 1998. He married Linda Perdue on Oct. 17, 1958 in Cortez, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Robert Burns; and a sister, Linda Montgomery.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Burns of Odessa; two sons, Buck and Kevin Burns of Odessa; three daughters, Lyn Chaney and Teresa McDuffee, both of Snyder, and Jay Hobbs of Rockmart, Ga.; his stepmother, Glenna Burns of Lubbock; two sisters, Peggy Morris of Lubbock and Elizabeth Higginbotham of Victoria; two stepbrothers, Ted and James Johnston, both of Lubbock; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
