The junior varsity Tigers ran roughshod over Merkel Monday, 16-6, in five innings.
Zack Garcia blasted what coach Brock Rumfield said was, “one of the farthest home runs I’ve seen hit at the high school level.”
Runfield estimated the bomb traveled over 430-feet to dead center.
Chris Smith went the distance for the victory.
“Chris has done a great job this year on the mound. Every time I give him the ball he goes the distance,” Rumfield said. “He’s consistent at throwing strikes and lets his defense work behind him.”
The junior varsity will close out the season Saturday at 1 p.m. at Seminole.
