Bridgeport, Sweetwater and Pecos were all separated by two strokes, with Bridgeport in third, just five shots back at 326.
Freshman Shannon Mangis led the Lady Tigers with a first-round 79, and Cami Trout fired an 80.
Brooke Jackson and Ashley Luecke each carded an 81 in the first round, and Christi Williams shot an 88.
The boys were in seventh place after the first round at Nueva Vista in Midland, but had the fifth-lowest team score with a 323.
Monahans leads the pack with a 307, while Canyon and Slaton are tied for third and Dalhart and Muleshoe sharing fifth, one shot ahead of the Tigers.
Jay Weaver stroked a 78, Tanner Bloom added a 79 and Wyl Wiggins finished the round at 80.
Alan Gray ended with an 86 and Jake Cottrell carded a 91.
