Plans are underway for the annual Snyder Wheels Car Show next Friday and Saturday.
The event is sponsored by Sonic Drive-In and the show this year includes a $500 Best of Show award presented by NAPA Auto Parts.
Also new this year is a midnight poker run beginning Friday evening at 9 o’clock on April 30 to benefit Gateway Family Services.
The public is invited to the show that will be in downtown Snyder on the square. Events include a swap meet, burn-out contest, lawn mower drag races and a Hula-Hoop contest.
Registration for the car show will be from 8-11 a.m. Saturday, and the swap meet runs from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Early entry fees for the car show are $15, and on the day of the event, the fee will be $20.
The lawn mower drag race carries an entry fee of $5, while the burn-out contest fee is $10.
At 4 p.m., the awards for the car show and burn-out contest will be given.
In another new twist, the car show will have a controlled cruise on 37th Street from College Avenue to Coliseum Drive from 6-9 p.m. Saturday.
“Bring your lawn chairs, your barbecue pits and set up along 37th Street around 5:30 to get a good spot to watch the cruise,” said Jim Edmonds, a member of Snyder Wheels. “We can all have one big tailgate party on 37th Street.”
