The ninth annual Snyder Fish-a-Thon will be held Saturday at Towle Park.

The tourney benefits the Lone Star District of the Boy Scouts, as well as the local Boy Scout troop in Snyder.

“Admission is only $5 to fish with two rods,” said local scout leader James Garvin.

Garvin said the tourney is open to all ages, not just youngsters.

“There will be hourly prizes for the top three fish caught, and some extra special prizes this year,” added Garvin.

“KSNY Radio is giving two tickets each to Six Flags Over Texas, Hurricane Harbor and Schliterbaun for the largest fish of the day,” said Garvin.

“Plus, if a fish weighs in at exactly 10 pounds, 15 ounces, the station will give the fisherman $101.50,” said Garvin.

Garvin said the pond was stocked with 700 pounds of blue catfish early today, and that there will be no fishing allowed at the pond until the event gets underway at 8 a.m. Saturday.

For Saturday only, no Texas fishing license will be required to fish in the pond.
