John Derryberry

1932-2004

John Paul “Pod” Derryberry of Snyder died Sunday, April 11, in Snyder.

Graveside service for Mr. Derryberry, 71, is set for 10 a.m. Thursday in Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

Born May 9, 1932 in Loraine, Mr. Derryberry was a retired cowboy, bull rider, rodeo clown, and had worked on ranches throughout West Texas. He was an Army veteran and had served in Korea. Mr. Derryberry had lived in Snyder the past three years, moving from Lubbock where he had lived 15 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

His wife, Foy Bilbrey Derryberry, died in 2000.

Survivors include two brothers, Larry Don Derryberry and wife, Sherry, of Snyder and Sonny Derryberry of Edgemont, S.D.; four sisters, Bobbie Ray Moore of Midland, Louise Brimmer of Highmore, S.D., Paulette McCollum of California, and Sandra Kimsey of Texarkana, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.

 


Roberto Lopez

1991-2004

Roberto R. Lopez, a sixth grader at West Elementary, died at 4:38 a.m. today in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

Rosary for Roberto, 12, is set for 7 p.m. today in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral service is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with U.S. Army Chaplain Capt. Leo Mora, a family friend, officiating. Assisting will be the Rev. Roy Badillas of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and the Rev. Rudy Casta, pastor of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Lamesa. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens.

Born July 8, 1991 in San Angelo with congenital heart disease, he had undergone successful surgery on Dec. 21, 1995 at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. Roberto had an avid interest in computers, video games and movies.

Survivors include his father and mother, Jose L. and Maria Lopez of Snyder; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Maritza and Ubaldo Juarez of Snyder and Ginelda Lopez of Snyder; a brother, Jose Lopez Jr. of Snyder; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Humberto Candilario of San Angelo; two nieces, Andrea and Adriana Juarez of Snyder and Leo Mora, a brother in faith.
