Snyder High School band students are preparing for Thursday’s UIL concert and sight-reading contest at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview.
SHS, directed by Donnie Reston, will be the first 3A school to compete. The band will perform at 9:30 a.m. and sight-reading will follow at 10.
Contest selections are The Mad Major March by Alford, edited by Fennell; Encanto by Robert W. Smith and Nemu-Susato by Jan Van der Roost.
Judges for the performing contest are Rocky Harris, Bruce Kenner and Fred Pankratz. Sight-reading judges are Anthony Gibson, Cody Myers and Jim Rhodes.
There is no admission charge and the public is invited.
