John Derryberry

1932-2004

John Paul Derryberry of Snyder died Sunday, April 11, in Snyder.

Services for Mr. Derryberry, 71, are pending at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

Born May 9, 1932 in Loraine, Mr. Derryberry was a retired cowboy, a bullrider and rodeo clown.

Survivors include two brothers, Larry Dan Derryberry and wife, Sherry, of Snyder and Sonny Derryberry of Edgemont, S.D.; four sisters, Bobbie Ray Moore of Midland, Louise Brimmer of Highmore, S.D., Paulette McCollum of California, and Sandra Kimsey of Texarkana, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.

 


K.P. Lofton

1916-2004

SWEETWATER -- K.P. Lofton Jr., a former Scurry County resident, died Sunday, April 11, in Abilene Regional Medical Center.

Funeral service for Mr. Lofton, 87, is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Ensminger officiating. Burial will follow in the Pyron Cemetery.

Born Sept. 7, 1916 in Fisher County, he married Lillie Mae Kinney in 1938 in Snyder. He lived in Hermleigh and farmed until 1994 when he retired and moved to Sweetwater. He had been a member of the Hermleigh Church of Christ and was a current member of Normandy Avenue Church of Christ in Sweetwater.

His parents, K.P. and Ethel Lofton; a brother, Vernon Lofton; and a sister, Era Dorden, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Lillie Mae Lofton of Sweetwater; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Wayne and Peggy Lofton of Sweetwater; a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Tommy Lillard of Mart; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Monte Dorden.

The family suggests memorials to the West Texas Rehab Center in Abilene or to the Normandy Avenue Church of Christ scholarship fund.

 


Marjorie Cox

1915-2004

MUSKOGEE, Okla. -- Marjorie Griffith Cox, sister of Ross Blanchard of Snyder, died Friday, April 9, in Muskogee after a short illness.

Service for Mrs. Cox, 89, was held today at York Street Church of Christ in Muskogee. Burial was to follow in the Greenhill Cemetery under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home.

She was born April 15, 1915 in Haskell, Okla., to Ross and Pearl Blanchard. After completing her education, she married Floyd O. Griffith in Muskogee. He died Sept. 4, 1977. She married Frank Cox who also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Cox was an employee of Vivas, working in retail and bookkeeping most of her adult life.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Jack Blanchard.

Survivors also include five children, William Griffith of Muskogee, Jerry Griffith of Grand Rapids, Mich., Majorie Ferrell of Muskogee, Thomas Griffith of Lawton, Okla., Jean Farmer of Keefeton, Okla.; a sister-in-law, Earnestine Blanchard of Snyder; 16 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
