The Snyder boys look to deliver a second consecutive District 3-3A golf title when they close out the district tournament Tuesday at Denver City.
Snyder increased its lead to 31 shots after following up a first-round 302 with a second-round 310 last Tuesday at Sammy Baugh Golf Course at WTC.
Alan Gray is tied for the first medalist spot with Seminole’s Brady Shivers after shooting a 74-76 150 over the first two rounds.
Jay Weaver is just two shots back of Gray with a 152, with Jake Cottrell right behind Weaver with a 153.
Tanner Bloom is sitting at 156 heading into the third round and Cole Robertson has carded a 160 over the first 36 holes.
The Snyder B team is sitting in with a 654, 13 strokes behind Sweetwater for second place.
“We definitely feel good about the way it’s gone so far,” head golf coach Ricky Hunter said. “The boys have a big lead, but the second bunch is only 13 shots out of second. We feel like we can get two teams in (regionals).”
The girls also are seeking a second-straight district championship this week when they head to final round Wednesday at Gaines County.
The girls are atop the leaderboard, leading Sweetwater by five strokes with a team score of 653 after 36 holes.
Cami Trout is still second medalist with a 153 after the first 36 holes.
Christi Williams, Brooke Jackson, Amber Luecke and Shannon Mangis are all within five shots of one another.
“We knew it would be tight for the girls,” Hunter said. “Seminole is a good course to end it on. We feel good about our chances.”
The regional tournament begins Monday, with the 3A boys playing at Nueva Vista in Midland, and the girls teeing-off at Ratliff Ranch in Odessa.
