Snyder High School choir students brought home numerous awards from the UIL Concert and Sight Reading contest Wednesday at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview.

The a cappella choir received sweepstakes for earning a I rating in both concert and sight reading. The a cappella girls competed as a women’s varsity choir and received a sweepstakes with six I ratings from the judges.

The a cappella men combined with the men’s chorale to compete as the varsity men’s choir. They received a superior I rating in concert and an excellent II rating in sight reading.

The freshmen women’s choir and the varsity women’s choir combined to compete as a non-varsity women’s choir and received an excellent II rating in concert and a IV in sight reading.

Director Ronda Haire said, “We were very pleased with the results of the competition this year. The students have worked very hard and performed really well. The judges’ comments were very favorable. The choirs represented Snyder High School well.”
