In the final tune-up before the district meet, the Snyder boys track and field team took the Colorado City meet Friday with seven thinclads setting new personal marks.

“I’m tickled,” head track coach Roger White said. “We went into the meet looking at it as our last practice before district. It’s the last time we’re going to run hard before Wednesday, and we got some momentum heading into district.”

Snyder topped the field with 128 points, 10 better than host Colorado City, and 33 better than third-place Crane.

The 4x200m relay team of Malcome Wells, Justin Boyd, Zach Cain and Jesus Juarez set a new personal mark and ran the third-fastest time in the state this year by finishing in 1:29.44.

Ricky McNatt carried home the gold in the discus with a new personal record throw of 156. Demetrius Brandon picked up the bronze and also set a new personal mark with a distance of 133.

Justin Boyd was awarded the gold in the high jump (6-4) and the 400m run.

Brandon also claimed the silver in the shot put, and Antwoine Cobb was fourth, setting a new personal standard with a heave of 44-3.

Wells raised his standards in two events, claiming the silver in the long jump with a leap of 21-11.5 and also in the 200m dash, crossing the line in 22.51

Josh Muniz had his best 800 run ever, taking second with a 2:05.36, and Jeremy Torrez ran his fastest two-mile, coming in third with a time of 11:13.

Torrez also won the bronze with a new personal mark of 4:54 in the mile. Muniz was second in that event.

The 1,600 relay squad, including Juarez, Muniz, Dwight Wells and Eder Borrego was fifth, D’Angleo Davis was sixth in the high jump and Garrett Pinson took sixth in the 110 hurdles.

The JV Tigers were fourth in their division with 81 points.

Johnny Vasquez claimed the only gold for the junior varsity in the discus, and won the silver in the shot put.

Barrett Bowlin was second in the triple jump, Tyler Driggers was third in the discus and Brandon Morriss was fourth in the long jump.

The 4x200 relay team of Matt Reigh, Matt Fernandez, Bowlin and Vasquez was third.

The sprint relay team (Bowling, Fernandez, Reigh and Michael Ford) finished third, the 4x400 team (Chris Vera, Brent Burleson, Reigh and Bowlin) was fifth and Kyle Sanchez claimed sixth in the 110 hurdles.

The district track meet kicks off at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Tiger Stadium.
