Clay Bunney was in the lead in the bareback riding competition after earning a 73 in the first round, while Sam Spreadborough was sitting on top of the saddle bronc division after an opening score of 77.
Hadley Hunting was second in that event after receiving a 73, and Guy Simanton was sixth after a score of 65.
Bruno Paoiella recorded a first-place time of 5.8 in team roping, Tara Woodall was pacing the field in barrel racing with a 17.99, and Marcie Wienke lead breakaway roping with a time of 3.86.
C.R. Moore was in fifth in calf roping with a 12.0.
“I’m happy with the way we showed up,” coach Greg Rhodes said. “It’s going well -- we’ll see how the rest of the week goes.”
