The Lady Tigers continued their perfect district season Thursday, blowing out Seminole, 12-0, in five innings.
After staking a 1-0 lead in the first inning, Snyder (17-8, 9-0) reeled off eight runs in the second and three over the next two innings to polish off the Maidens and move a step closer to repeating as District 3-3A champions.
Ashley Martinez faced just three batters over the minimum, striking out six while allowing just two hits and walking two, while the Lady Tigers banged out 10 hits and capitalized on four Seminole errors.
Missy Vasquez scored three runs on two hits, while Terann Ragland and Lindsey Morin each belted two hits and scored a run.
Briana Bernal was 1-for-3 with two RBI, Kelsi Johnson raked a double and scored a run and Rachel Clanton added an RBI.
Laura Clanton, Martinez and Erin Hackfeld each scored a run.
“We hit the ball well -- a lot better than we did the last time we played them. Everybody stepped up and played well,” said head coach Darren Pool.
He said the team is rounding into form.
“We’re starting to hit better and feeling more patient at the plate, defensively making the plays we need to,” he said.
The Lady Tigers will square off with the Lady Badgers at Merkel at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Snyder edged Merkel, 7-6, when the teams played March 23.
A win would give the Lady Tigers at least a tie for the district title.
The JV ran its record to 11-1-1 and 6-0 in district with an 18-1 win over the junior Maidens.
Tana Sullenger struck out seven while going the distance to improve her record to 5-0.
Joshlyn Tovar cracked a pair of doubles, Kendra Birks slapped a pair of base hits and Sullenger helped herself at the plate with two RBI.
The JV will play at Merkel at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
