The seventh-grade boys took third in the junior high district track meet Monday, notching 104 points to finish behind district champion Lamesa and runner-up Sweetwater.
The eighth-grade boys were missing 12 thinclads, but still managed to put up 36 points -- their second-highest point total of the season.
Im proud of these kids, they went out and competed, coach Tommy Doyle said. In track you see who gives it their all, and these kids did their best.
Emanuel Hernandez claimed the gold in the 800-meter run and the bronze in the mile, while the 4x100 relay team also won gold.
Kenneth Turner won the silver in the 100m dash, while Chase Arrendale won the bronze in the same event.
The seventh-graders took three of the top five spots in the 200 sprint, with Joe Riveria capturing the silver, Turner taking home the bronze and Robert Castaneda claiming fifth.
Arrendale was second in the long jump, with Turner coming in fifth.
Wolfie Garcia claimed the silver in the discus throw, while teammates Daniel Samia and Patrick Meigan were sixth and 12th.
Samia was fourth in the shot, David Guzman was fifth and Fabian Gutierrez was 11th.
Julian Dominguez was fourth in the 2,400m run, and Miguel Martinez finished fourth in the 110 hurdles. Jon Hernandez was 11th in the competition.
Casey Young was sixth in the 400 dash, and teammates Carson Matthies and Ted Cerda coming in 13th and 15th respectively.
The 4x400 relay team placed fourth.
For the eighth-graders, Dustin Murdock claimed the gold medal in the pole vault and the 200 dash. He was eighth in the triple jump.
The 4x200 relay squad was fourth.
Stevie Rose took seventh in the discus, Craig Robertson and Michael Light were seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 300 hurdles.
Jacob McFatridge took seventh in the 100 dash, while Cord Welsh was 13th and Kaden Billingsley was 14th. Welsh also was 13th in the 400 run.
Robertson was eighth in the 100 hurdles, Light came in 11th and Allen Jones was 14th.
Eighth place in the shot put competition went to Josh Falls, while teammate Tye Gresset was ninth.
Jones, Billingsley and Robertson were 11th, 12th and 14th in the long jump.
