Have ballots, need voters.
That might be what staffers in the county clerk’s office might be saying today as early voting ends Thursday in the runoff election for Texas Railroad commissioner on the Republican ticket.
Through mid-morning today, only three persons had cast ballots, said County Clerk Joan Bunch.
Bunch said she anticipated a very light turnout and avoided the expense of ordering ballots from the state and prepared the ballots locally.
The runoff is between Victor G. Carrillo and Robert Butler.
The county clerk’s office is open from 8:30 until 5 p.m. through Thursday.
Anyone registered voter who did not vote in the Democratic primary is eligible to vote in the GOP runoff election.
The election is Tuesday and polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. with the lone polling place the county courtroom on the third floor of the courthouse.
