The Snyder girls golf team got under-90 rounds from four players -- including a 79 from current second medalist Cami Trout -- for second place after the opening round of the district tournament in Lamesa Thursday.
“Cami had a great day at Lamesa,” head coach Ricky Hunter said.
The Lady Tigers shot a 341, nine shots behind district-leading Sweetwater.
Ashley Luecke fired an 86 and Brooke Jackson and Christi Williams each fired an 88.
Shannon Mangis stayed on pace with a 90.
“We knew that Sweetwater had a good team and they proved that Thursday,” Hunter said. “We are nine shots back with two rounds to go. We are going to have to play better as a team if we are going to compete with them.”
Snyder II finished in fourth with a 408.
Heather Derrington led the team with an 85 and Kaylee Lacik shot an 89.
April Boyd fired a 102 and Chelsea Hackfeld stroked a 132.
The second round of district for the girls will be Wednesday at Merkel.
The boys will play the second round in Snyder on Monday.
