Covenant Health Systems spokesman Eddie Owens said this morning that a report that the hospital system will not renew contracts with 70 physicians should not have any impact on Snyder’s medical community.
Cogdell Memorial Hospital’s administration and board of managers currently are negotiating with Covenant to operate the local family healthcare facility as a rural health clinic.
Preliminary talks have centered on the hospital operating the facility, with the physicians remaining employees of Covenant.
“This story is really not news for Snyder, and really wasn’t news here either,” said Owens. “There is nothing new happening here that hasn’t already been talked about.”
Owens did say that he wasn’t privy to the contract discussions with Snyder’s physicians and did not know where they stood.
Cogdell’s CEO George Parsley was out of town and unavailable for comment.
